O nosso amigo Anibal Quinta fez dia 22 de Setembro 50 anos. A casa que um dia reconstruiu foi pequena para receber os muitos amigos que se juntaram para festejar este dia tão especial.

On the 22th of September our friend Anibal Quinta celebrated his 50th aniversary. The house that he rebuilt some years ago was not enough to receive all the friends who came to celebrate this special day.

Alemães no Casal de São Simão / German Tourists in Casal de São Simão

O Casal de São Simão recebeu a visita de um grupo de Alemães que veio conhecer a aldeia e a sua envolvente. Durante a estadia percorreram a pé o percurso que liga Ferraria de São João ao Casal de São Simão, visitaram o monumento natural das Fragas de São Simão e não resistiram a um banho nas águas cristalinas da Ribeira de Alge. Na aldeia saborearam a calma envolvida por cheiros do forno a lenha, que abria o apetite e partilharam amizade e simpatia.
Na hora da despedida as saudades já eram muitas e no meio de abraços ficaram promessas de um dia voltarem.

Our lovely village has received the visit of a group of German tourists who came to know the village and its surroundings. During their stay they did the trekking from Ferraria de São João to Casal de São Simão, they visited the natural monument of Fragas de São Simão and they didn’t resist to dive into the crystalline water of Alge’s stream. In the village they savoured the quietude along with the appetinzing smells emanated from the wood-burning stove, and also shared friendship and kindness.
By the time of farewells they were already missed and along with hugs they left the promise of coming back some day...

O Casal foi à Festa / Casal de São Simão went to the feast

Os nossos amigos da Ferraria de São João realizaram dia 25 e 26 de Agosto a Festa anual em honra de São João Baptista e Nossa Senhora de Fátima. Na Procissão, que percorre as ruas da aldeia, os moradores transportam à cabeça as bonitas fogaças recheadas de ofertas que após o “desfile” são vendidas em leilão. O programa foi variado: sábado um grupo de teatro divertiu as pessoas, e no domingo alguns habitantes das aldeias de Ferraria de São João e de Casal de São Simão fizeram o percurso pedestre que liga as duas localidades.
À noite, encostados ao balcão do bar, saboreando um grelhado acompanhado por um copo de vinho, os homens contaram histórias olhando os pares que dançavam alegremente ao som de musica tradicional.

On the 25th and 26th of August, our friends from Ferraria de São João celebrated the anual feast in honour of Saint John the Baptist and Our Lady of Fátima. During the procession that goes through the Village streets, the inhabitants carry on their heads the lovely “fogaças” full of offers that were sold in the auction after the parade.
The program was diversified: saturday in the streets of the Village a theater group amused the people, and on sunday some inhabitants from the villages of Ferraria de São João and of Casal de São Simão did the hike that connects the two places.
At night, leaned on the counter of the bar tasting some grilled meat along with a glass of wine, the men told stories while looking at the couples dancing happily at the sound of traditional music.

Descobrir a Ribeira de Alge / Discovering the stream Ribeira de Alge

Na Aldeia do Xisto do Casal de São Simão os habitantes aproveitam o Verão para conhecer melhor a Ribeira de Alge. A caminhar e a nadar percorrem as suas límpidas águas e descobrem os seus segredos. Momentos para relaxar e apreciar a diversidade da flora e da fauna e para uma boa hidromassagem numa das muitas cascatas. Para esta actividade necessita de fato de banho, calçado para água e espírito de aventura.

During the summer is the perfect time to get to know better the Alge’s stream and that is what the inhabitants of Casal de São Simão do every year. Walking and swimming they cover its limpid waters and discover its secrets: moments to relax and to appreciate the diversity of the flora and the fauna and for a good jacuzzi in one of many cascades. For this activity we need bathing-suit, footwear for water and adventure spirit.

Televisão Austríaca no Casal / Austrian television in Casal

Esteve no Casal de São Simão uma equipa de televisão da Áustria que veio recolher imagens para um programa de divulgação das potencialidades turísticas do nosso País. Foram dois dias em que os habitantes do Casal foram as vedetas principais de um enredo que pretendeu dar a conhecer a aldeia e a sua envolvente. Encenaram-se tradições, usos, costumes e contou-se a sua história. O Fael e a Lina fizeram o pão no forno a lenha, o Alberto contou a história do Casal, o Fael fez de pedreiro, o Albertino pastoreou as cabras, a Eduarda ordenhou e fez o queijo, a Alice e a São mostraram a aldeias e as casas e o Fábio e o Guilherme banharam-se na bela praia fluvial das Fragas de São Simão.

A team of an Austrian Television network came to Casal de São Simão to collect images to spread our country’s potential for turism. For two days the inhabitants of Casal de São Simão were the main stars of a plot that intends to let know the village and its surroundings. Traditions, uses and customs were staged and its storys were told. Fael and Lina baked bread in the wood-burning stove, Alberto told the story of the village, Fael was a stonemason, Albertino was the goatherd for his goats, Eduarda milked the goats and made the cheese, Alice and São showed the village and it’s houses, Fábio e Guilherme bathed themselves in the amazing river beach Fragas de São Simão.

No dia 29 de Junho decorreu em Figueiró dos Vinhos a entrega dos prémios do

concurso “Figueiró Florido”. O 1º prémio da classe “Varandas” foi para o Casal de São Simão para a bonita varanda da casa de Eduarda Torres. A ela os nossos parabéns.

On the 29th of June, in Figueiró dos Vinhos, there were given prizes for the contest “Figueiró Florido” (Flowered Figueiró). This is a contest for the best decorated houses and gardens. The 1st prize in the category “balconies”, went to Casal de São Simão for the pretty balcony of Mrs Eduarda Torres. For her, our congratulations!

Durante a cerimónia foram expostos os arranjos florais efectuados pelos participantes num Curso de Arranjos Florais promovido pela Câmara Municipal onde se podia ver o bonito arranjo feito pela Sofia Quinta.

During the ceremony, there were exhibitied floral arrangements made by the participants in a workshop of Floral Arrangements, promoted by the municipality, where we could see the lovely arrangement made by Sofia Quinta.

Foi inaugurada dia 24 de Junho em Penela a Exposição de Fotografias de Natureza “Do Xisto ao Calcário – Património Natural das Beiras”. Para a exposição foram seleccionadas 3 fotografias do António Fael.

On the 24th of June in Penela occurred the opening of the Exhibition of Pictures of Nature: “Do Xisto ao Calcário – Património Natural das Beiras”. For the exhibition were selected three pictures of António Fael.
