A oralidade vai trazendo até aos nossos dias algumas tradições de outros tempos, pelas vozes e pelas mãos dos habitantes originais do Casal de S. Simão. Uma dessas tradições celebra-se na noite de São João:

Through the spoken word some traditions have reached our days from other and older times, by the voices and the hands of the original inhabitants of Casal de S. Simão. One of this traditions is celebrated in Saint’s John night (24th of June):
Diz a lenda que na noite de S. João a água que brota da Fonte do Casal de São Simão é santificada e para celebrar o acontecimento a fonte é embelezada com um Arco de Flores, construído á luz de uma fogueira de pinhas. Após o bater das doze badaladas a água está santificada, então, as pessoas bebem da sagrada água, lavam a cara, os olhos e penteiam os cabelos. Pela madrugada, antes de o sol nascer há que ir buscar da virtuosa água e dá-la a beber aos animais e benzer os seus currais para afastar doenças e chamar boa sorte e saúde.

The tale tell us that in Saint’s John night the water that cames out of the fountain in Casal de São Simão is sainted and to celebrate that happening the fountain is beautified with an Arc of Flowers, built with the lihgt of a bonfire. After the stroke of twelve the water is sacred, then people drink from it, wash their faces, their eyes and brush the hair. By the dawn, before the sunrise, they must go and get the virtuous water and give it to drink to their animals and bless the corrals to keep away illnesses and to call on good luck and health.
