Durante este ano o Casal de São Simão recebeu vários grupos de alemães, que vieram através da Wikinger e da Hauser, acompanhados mais uma vez pelo Cedric e o Paul. A todos o nosso obrigado pela amizade e pelos belos momentos que passamos juntos.
During this year Casal de São Simão received several groups of German tourists, who came with the Wikinger and Hauser, guided once more by Cedric and Paul. To all our thanks for the friendship and the beautiful moments we spent together.
Papoila foi o nome que os habitantes do Casal de São Simão deram á cadela que um dia apareceu na aldeia á procura de um refugio para os filhotes que trazia no ventre. 
Agradecida pelos carinhos dos habitantes abanava a cauda de felicidade e lambia quem lhe fazia festas. O dia esperado por todos lá chegou e a nossa Papoila presenteou-nos com 6 bonitos cachorrinhos que têm sido a alegria de todos nós. Como a Papoila, estamos todos orgulhosos e é uma alegria ver os filhotes a brincar: 3 pretos, 3 brancos, 3 fêmeas e 3 machos. São mesmo bonitos os filhotes da Papoila, mas como não vai ser possível ficar com todos, vai ser com muita tristeza que os veremos partir para as suas novas casas. 
Papoila was the name, that people of Casal de São Simão gave to the dog that appeared one day in the village searching for refuge for her and for the cubs in her
belly. Grateful for the caresses of the inhabitants Papoila wagged its tail excitedly and licked people’s hands. The day we all awaited for finally arrived and Papoila presented us with six beautiful puppies that have been the joy of us all. Like Papoila, we are all proud and it’s a joy to see the pups play: 3 black, 3 white, 3 females and 3 males. They are really beautiful and it is a fact that we can’t keep them all, so it will be with great sadness that we’ll be seeing them leaving for their new homes.
A Primavera é altura para nos deixarmos encantar pela
beleza e variedade das flores silvestres. Os campos pintam-se de cores variadas, jardins naturais onde a natureza nos premeia com toda a sua exuberância.

It’s Spring, time to be delighted by the beauty and variety
of wild flowers. The countryside is painted with the most vareid colors, natural gardens where mother nature rewards us with all its exuberance. It's time to grab the camera and go to the field in search of the fascinating Orchids.
variety is extraordinary: about twenty thousand species and thousands of hybrids occupy the most diverse habitats. The identification of orchids is a difficult and complicated job, since many genders are complex.
O programa da Wikinger Reisen "Zu Gast in den traditionellen Schieferdörfern des Pinhal" ("Seja bem-vindo às tradicionais Aldeias do Xisto do Pinhal"), foi distinguido
na categoria de “Melhor Viagem de Descoberta” pela prestigiada revista alemã Geo Saison (www.Geo.de), durante a ITB (International Tourism Bourse 2008 Berlin). Este prémio, da maior importância para a marca Aldeias do Xisto e Centro de Portugal, vem premiar o trabalho de uma grande equipa que soube transmitir a quem nos visitou o espirito que nos move, o modo como sentimos a aldeia e a vivência em família. The programme of Wikinger Reisen "Zu Gast in den traditionellen
Schieferdörfern des Pinhal" ("Welcome to the traditional schist villages of the Pinhal"), has been distinguished in the category of "Best Journey of Discovery" by the prestigious German magazine Geo Saison ( www.geo.de ), during the ITB (International Tourism Bourse 2008 Berlin). This prize, of the utmost importance to the brand of the Schist Villages and Centre of Portugal, is rewarding the work of a great team that was able to show to whom visited us the spirit in which we move, the way we feel the village and experience in family. To all who contributed to this success our congratulations.
Em Fevereiro, o Casal de São Simão recebeu a visita de uma equipa de
televisão da Coreia do Sul. Vieram recolher imagens do nosso modo de vida e tradições. O ponto alto, que muito emocionou a escritora Shin Hyun Rim que acompanhava a equipa, foi o ritual da preparação e cozedura do pão no forno a lenha. Ficamos a saber, através da Hojin, que os sul coreanos além de partilharem connosco o gosto pelo pão feito de cereais (cá farinha de trigo, lá farinha de arroz) também partilham a palavra “pão”, legado dos portugueses por altura dos Descobrimentos.
In February, Casal de São Simão received the visit of a television team from South Korea. They came to gather images of our way of life and traditions.
The high point, which has moved the writer Shin Hyun Rim who accompanied the team, was the ritual of preparing and baking bread in a wood-burning stove. We came to know, through Hojin, that the South Koreans besides sharing with us the taste for bread made from grain (here wheat flour, rice flour there) also share the word "pão", a Portuguese legacy from the Portuguese Voyages of Discovery.
