Prémio "Die Goldenen Palmen" para Aldeias do Xisto / Prize "Die Goldenen Palmen" for Schist Villages

O programa da Wikinger Reisen "Zu Gast in den traditionellen Schieferdörfern des Pinhal" ("Seja bem-vindo às tradicionais Aldeias do Xisto do Pinhal"), foi distinguido na categoria de “Melhor Viagem de Descoberta” pela prestigiada revista alemã Geo Saison (www.Geo.de), durante a ITB (International Tourism Bourse 2008 Berlin). Este prémio, da maior importância para a marca Aldeias do Xisto e Centro de Portugal, vem premiar o trabalho de uma grande equipa que soube transmitir a quem nos visitou o espirito que nos move, o modo como sentimos a aldeia e a vivência em família. A todos que contribuíram para este sucesso os nossos parabéns.

Na atribuição do prémio o Júri descreveu assim o programa:

“Chama-se a esta região de Portugal “Pinhal Interior”, porque aqui, junto à fronteira espanhola existe uma grande mancha de pinheiro. Antigamente estas terras mal davam de comer às pessoas, o que levou a que muitos emigrassem. As aldeias e as suas casas de pedra ficaram ao abandono. Um dia um grupo de amigos veio e recuperou as tradicionais casas de pedra de uma dessas aldeias, em algumas casas criaram-se condições para receber pessoas e partilhar as maravilhas da gastronomia local, e os antigos caminhos viram novamente a luz do sol. Assim, a Aldeia do Casal de São Simão é um bom exemplo dessa modificação lenta e suave de uma antiga aldeia abandonada, para uma aldeia antiga viva e com vida. Outros, na região estão a desenvolver projectos semelhantes. Hoje, muitos hóspedes apreciam a arquitectura tradicional, saboreiam a sopa de castanhas e desfrutam do dia a dia de que é feita uma vida na aldeia... E os novos habitantes vão encontrando coragem para ficar. Foi esta dualidade que, por unanimidade encantou o júri.”

The programme of Wikinger Reisen "Zu Gast in den traditionellen Schieferdörfern des Pinhal" ("Welcome to the traditional schist villages of the Pinhal"), has been distinguished in the category of "Best Journey of Discovery" by the prestigious German magazine Geo Saison ( www.geo.de ), during the ITB (International Tourism Bourse 2008 Berlin). This prize, of the utmost importance to the brand of the Schist Villages and Centre of Portugal, is rewarding the work of a great team that was able to show to whom visited us the spirit in which we move, the way we feel the village and experience in family. To all who contributed to this success our congratulations.

In awarding the prize the jury described the program this way:

“It is called to this region of Portugal "Pinhal" because here, near the Spanish border once there were a great pine forest. Because the land formerly hardly nourished people, many migrated. The villages and their homes of stone were abandoned. One day a group of friends came and recovered the traditional houses of schist from one of these villages, in some houses conditions were created for receiving people and share the wonders of the local gastronomy, and the old paths again saw the day light. Thus, the Village of Casal de São Simão is a good example of this gentle and slow change of an abandoned old village, into a living old village full of life. Others in the region are developing similar projects. Today, many guests enjoy the traditional architecture, taste the chestnut soup and enjoy the daily life in the village ... And the new people are finding again courage to stay. It is this duality that enchanted the jury unanimously.”

Equipa de televisão da Coreia do Sul no Casal de São Simão / South Korean Television in Casal de São Simão

Em Fevereiro, o Casal de São Simão recebeu a visita de uma equipa de televisão da Coreia do Sul. Vieram recolher imagens do nosso modo de vida e tradições. O ponto alto, que muito emocionou a escritora Shin Hyun Rim que acompanhava a equipa, foi o ritual da preparação e cozedura do pão no forno a lenha. Ficamos a saber, através da Hojin, que os sul coreanos além de partilharem connosco o gosto pelo pão feito de cereais (cá farinha de trigo, lá farinha de arroz) também partilham a palavra “pão”, legado dos portugueses por altura dos Descobrimentos.

In February, Casal de São Simão received the visit of a television team from South Korea. They came to gather images of our way of life and traditions. The high point, which has moved the writer Shin Hyun Rim who accompanied the team, was the ritual of preparing and baking bread in a wood-burning stove. We came to know, through Hojin, that the South Koreans besides sharing with us the taste for bread made from grain (here wheat flour, rice flour there) also share the word "pão", a Portuguese legacy from the Portuguese Voyages of Discovery.
