As Orquídeas constituem um dos mais belos grupos de plantas e um dos maiores êxitos da evolução vegetal recente. Apresentam estruturas morfológicas e anatómicas das mais especializadas do
reino vegetal. A sua diversidade é extraordinária: cerca de vinte mil espécies e milhares de híbridos ocupam os mais diversos habitats. A identificação das Orquídeas é um trabalho difícil e complicado, pois muitos géneros são complexos.A família das Orquídeas europeias constituída por mais de duzentas espécies, menos vistosas que as tropicais, não deixam de nos fascinar. Em Portugal existem cerca de sessenta e cinco espécies, incluindo híbridos e variantes.

The identification of orchids is a difficult and complicated job, since many genders are complex.The European family of Orchids, with over two hundred species, less eye-catching than the tropical ones, doesn’t stop to fascinate us. In Portugal there are around sixty-five species, including hybrids and variations.
